Menina do Mar is a small brand that creates slow fashion in the Algarve / Portugal.

With each piece you purchase, you are supporting a local woman owned business, that only uses produce from Portugal.

The “mermaid” was brought to life by Kaja, a former fashion designer from Germany, that is living and working as a yoga teacher and massage therapist in Portugal.

Kaja started missing the creative part in her life but thought, that the world doesn’t need more clothes or another fashion label.

Yet her heart beats for fashion.

She sees it as art, as something playful - an extension of ourselves, our mood and our personality. Fashion gives every person the possibility to dive into different parts of themselves and to express them. That’s how, despite all doubts, Menina do Mar was born.

All fabrics in the collection are either recycled or 100% organic. The tie-dyed fabrics are lovingly hand-dyed by Kaja.

Each piece is handsewn here in a small family run tailor’s shop with a lot of love and dedication, therefore please allow some time for the making. Overall we are in Portugal, where life is happening at a slower pace.
